I am Coach Charlene, founder and Executive Director at Run Your Life, a 501(c)(3) health and wellness organization inspiring and educating our members and communities to be in charge of their health, fitness and overall well-being through our Clubs Run-Walk, Kids Clubs, Special Events, social media, and websites.
I have decided that the time has come to allow my personal coaching techniques, style, and training to be available for those who wish to get going with their running or walking, but prefer to have a one-on-one session instead of a running club atmosphere to start.
My running experience is great as is the success of those whom I have trained over the seven years that I have been coaching runners.
Beginners who may be intimated to start are my favorite! There is such a remarkable desire to get going and once properly directed, beginners really take off.
Beginners, to me, can be defined as any of the following possibilities:
*those whom have never run
*those who have not run in a while
*those who used to run, but it's been decades, and have no idea where to begin
*those wish to run but do not know where to start
*those whom have run for years, but feel silly admitting that they really do not know the proper techniques to training so they haven't asked, or do not have a good idea where to begin or how to begin
*some that run and are now ready to take the next step in their training (ie: first 5K, first 10K, first half marathon, first marathon, etc)
*...you get the picture.
There are also those who run exceptionally well and are ready to be trained to run even faster. I've done that, too.
There are many people out there who are a bit intimidated to begin in a group and this is a great option for them. Now, if you hire me to coach you, you can rest assure that you will be pushed a bit. Excuses are
not allowed, and giving up is not an option. This is your journey and it is time to believe that you can actually do it. I believe in you, and I also believe that no one is limited by their circumstances. I have trained over one hundred runners ages 11-60 to their first 5Ks. I trained 26 middle school athletes to their State competitions in cross country and track. I have also trained 21 adult athletes to their first half marathon, three to their first full marathon, and three elite athletes to run even faster and stronger. Personally, I have run 2 half marathons, 3 full marathons, including last year's Boston Marathon in which I re qualified and was accepted to run it again in 2012, a 50 mile ultra marathon and a 100K Trail Relay. I have also had some poor experiences in being coached that encouraged me to go out and find the ways that work best for me, and in doing so, Run Your Life, Inc was born. I take all of my experiences, abilites, and education and keep the focus on each individual person.
My coaching certification is USA Track and Field, the best-of-the-best, and I have great confidence that people in general, can pull out their best and be successful. You see, I know this is not about me. What I will help you do is create a plan that works for you, your lifestyle and your goals. You will be doing all the work, and you will be the one following through for yourself, your goals, and your success.
Here are the options I offer for training:
*Get Motivated 101 $125
This program is designed to get you jump started, comfortable, and familiar with the form of running as well as the proper assessment of your running/walking gate, shoes, gear, diet, and running/walking goals. We will meet for a consultation. I will have you run or walk so that I can assess your form, speed, and cardio feel. I will also interview you on your current goals and with all the criteria, I will establish a lifestyle plan for you to be in charge of. This option comes with two weeks of coach motivation via emails. Please feel free to call with any questions as well.
*Stay Motivated $100/week
This is the option to follow Get Motivated 101 in which you feel that you are most successful when an accountability factor is involved. We will be in contact during the week and I will motivate you to continue your journey. You must be a willing participant, though, for any training program to be successful. This also includes a membership and weekly run with the Run Your Life Club Run-Walk, a 501(c)(3)non profit health and wellness organization, of which I am the founder, Executive Director, and Team Coach.
*Training Plans for Long Distance Events $175
Training plans for half marathons or full marathons built just for you. We will meet, go over past running experience, times (if any) and goals for the event. You will be clocked for time as a beginning point in your training (so we know what pace to set your speed work to), I will check your form while you run and I will interview you to get a good sense of what may fit best into your schedule. I will then, take all of the data I gather back to my office and within a week, will have a devised plan built just for you. This option includes the first three weeks of your plan with unlimited emails and calls with questions and shared excitement regarding your training plan. After the first three weeks, you will feel more confident, and we will need to be in less contact for your success. You will then check in with me once-a-week, on Sunday, via email to send me your week's worth of training completed and I will respond by Monday. This way, you will learn how to keep yourself on track, but still have the accountability of your coach looking after you. This also allows for me to change any of the plan if needed as you go along. You will receive a training journal with this option as a personal keepsake of your running/walking journey.
*Speed/Endurance Training for Athletes: $225
Four weeks of a personally designed plan built for you by me. We will meet, go over your times, paces, gate, form, habits, cross-training and I will develop a plan to bring your very best. We will be in contact for four weeks in which you will email me daily on how your training for the day went. I will send you a questionnaire when you register to make it easy and consistent. You will receive a training journal as a keepsake of your journey. This is a good option for those who just need a jump start in a new direction for their training program and feel confident that four weeks of coaching will create new techniques and they will continue the success.
*Continued Speed/Endurance Training for Athletes: Monthly fee: $350 Weekly fee: $100
This plan continues the training until the event/goal.
*One Time Training Plan $100
This is a personalized training plan built especially for you for running events up to a marathon distance. With your current running abilities, times, distance, how many times a week you run and cross train, and your goals, I will develop a plan for you and email it within a week of payment receipt. No coaching is involved, just the plan and pointers. This is a nice addition for those who prefer to do their training solo, but have come to a point where they would like to try something new to continue and/or increase their success.
